Members have their own space, separate from the CRM you use. Knowing the sign-in options makes "I can't get in" calls quick.
What the sign-in page offers
Members see a page headed Welcome back with your chamber's name on it. They have three ways in:
- An emailed link. They type their Email address, leave Password blank and click Sign in, or click Email me a sign-in link instead. A link arrives in their inbox, and it is good for 30 minutes. Nothing to remember and nothing for you to reset.
- A password. They type their email and password and click Sign in. A member who signed in by link can set a password under Account in the portal for next time.
- An account they already use. If buttons are shown under "Sign in with an account you already use", the member can continue with Google, Microsoft or LinkedIn. The page tells them to use the one with the same email address your chamber has on file.
Social sign-in only links, never creates
This one trips people up. Signing in with Google, for example, only works when the member already has a portal account at your chamber. It never creates one. An account exists when you have added the person as a contact on their business, or when they have joined and paid.
Good to know
- The page says that if the email is linked to a member of your chamber, a link is on its way. It is worded that way on purpose, so a stranger cannot learn who is a member.
- The link goes to the email address on the contact record. If that address is old or misspelled, nothing will arrive. Fix it on the member's Contacts tab first.
- Ask members to check spam and promotions folders, and search for your chamber's name.
- A member can ask for a fresh link themselves at any time, which is the quickest fix.
- A person who works at a member business but was never added as a contact has nothing to sign into yet.
