Billing in Chamber Culture follows one simple chain, and once you see it, every billing screen makes sense.
The three pieces
- A tier sets the price and billing period.
- A membership connects one member business to one tier.
- Invoices are what actually get paid. A membership creates them on the tier's schedule.
What can happen automatically
Automated billing is off until you turn it on, so nothing is created while you are still setting up. Chamber admins find it at Settings, then Taking payments, in the Automated billing panel. Switch on Automated billing is live and click Save.
Once it is on:
- Each member's renewal invoice is created 30 days before their renewal date, during the overnight run.
- Memberships that stay unpaid 30 days past due are lapsed. You can change that number with the Grace period setting on Membership tiers.
- The Payment terms setting controls how many days members have to pay.
- Reminder emails go out on their own: 7 days before the due date, then 7 and 21 days after it is overdue, once per stage.
Invoices your team raises by hand work either way.
Autopay is optional
Members can save a card or bank account in their portal and turn on autopay. It runs on Stripe, and members enroll themselves. A charge can happen when the renewal invoice is processed, which may be before the due date.
Before you switch it on
Check your members, renewal dates and tier prices first. If you are bringing billing over from another system, keep Automated billing is live off until you have reconciled everything, and avoid running two collection schedules for the same member.
